Land and Water Protection Division
Alameda County’s Land & Water Division consists of the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) Program and the Local Oversight Program (LOP).
The mission of the OWTS Program is to help our clients identify the best solutions for wastewater disposal and to ensure potability of drinking water wells in order to protect human health and the Environment in all areas of Alameda County.
The LOP oversees the investigation and cleanup of hazardous materials releases to the environment under the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) program for unauthorized releases from petroleum underground storage tanks and releases or spills of other types of hazardous materials under the Site Cleanup Program (SCP).
